FUNDING APPROVALS: 2009 FISCAL YEAR
Each year, through our strategic initiatives and open calls for proposals, the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation makes significant investments in research projects, fellowships, community based research and other cause-related work. For the fiscal year ending March 31, 2009, the Foundation's Ontario Region Board of Directors approved grant allocations totaling more than $9 million!
The Foundation's funding decisions support our goal of having the broadest possible impact on breast health and breast cancer by funding relevant work that responds to the needs of those most affected by the disease. Approved initiatives build knowledge and improve practice in all areas of breast cancer, including prevention, early detection, treatment, care, support and education, and demonstrate innovation and quality. They were recommended for funding based on a rigorous peer review process.
Our thanks to those who applied for funding during our latest grant rounds and congratulations to all successful applicants. We also thank the many donors, supporters, and volunteers whose generous contributions to the Foundation this year have made these investments possible.
