COMMUNITY BASED RESEARCH

In 2008 and 2009, the Ontario Region piloted a new Community Based Research Grant program to support projects that focused upon/privileged the principles of community engagement and involvement and used participatory research methods.  The Foundation received 14 applications for funding and three grants were awarded through this initiative. The two-year CBR pilot grant program was recently reviewed in light of emerging Foundation strategic priorities, operating resources and CBR pilot program outcomes.  The CBR pilot grant program has now concluded and targeted calls for proposals in CBR methodologies have been suspended until further notice. 

The Ontario Region Board is currently engaged in a strategic planning and priority setting process that will inform future funding priorities, and learning from the CBR pilot funding will help guide decision-making with respect to future funding initiatives.
